Tarzan is a video installation originally produced for the 2001 Istanbul Biennial where I collaborated with Çetin Basaran, a Turkish actor who, in 1970, starred as Tarzan in the Turkish versions of the film. For this piece, we remade one of the film’s signature scenes: Çetin wore his original outfit and we recreated Tarzan’s cry thirty years later. The scene was shot three separate times with a completely still camera and changing the actor’s angle and orientation of his body. The final installation consists of three video projections onto a white triangular structure. |
